Vernon Davis Not Sure About Playing Sunday

With most of the focus on Justin Smith, Vernon Davis is also on the shelf. While certainly not as serious, Davis may miss Sunday’s regular season finale against Arizona.

The tight-end wore a non-contract jersey Friday, and didn’t sound too optimistic regarding his status for Sunday.

Here’s an excerpt from his intereview with the reporters Friday (via the San Francisco Chronicle)

Q: Are you going to play Sunday?

Davis: I’m not sure. I’m still wearing a non-contact jersey.

Q: You feel fine?

Davis: I feel all right.

Q: Not 100 percent?

Davis: I’m all right.

Davis, who suffered a concussion against Seattle on Sunday, will likely have to take on a bigger burden with Mario Manningham out for the remainder of the season.
