Struggling Kings Take On Surging Blazers Down Cousins

Down DeMarcus Cousins, the Sacramento Kings prepare to take on the Portland Trailblazers tonight. Cousins, who was involved in a heated verbal confrontation with head coach Keith Smart, is suspended indefinitely  The altercation lead to Cousins being told to stay in the locker room for the remainder of the second half of the Kings Clippers game on Friday.

The Kings are uncertain when they will regain the services of Tyreke Evans, who has missed the last three games due to his sore left knee. With Evans and Cousins out, the Kings are missing two of their top players, and will have to find an alternative way to generate offense.

The Trailblazers are coming into Sleep Train Arena on a five game winning streak, and will look to continue their recent success, as they try to beat the Kings for only the second time in the last five meetings.

Wesley Matthews will be doubtful tonight for the Blazers due to hip problems. Mathews is averaging 16 points this season against the Kings.

The Kings will need to contain LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard if they hope to stop the Blazers five game winning streak. Expect to see extended minutes for Jimmer Fredette and Isaiah Thomas. Marcus Thornton will be starting in place of injured Tyreke Evans, and will asked to score as we know he is capable of.
