Another negative lockout update: reports are out indicating that the NHL has told teams that it will cancel all games up to January 14.
The lockout has been in place since September 15, and there are no indications that the owners and players will reach a deal soon.
Yesterday, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly was asked if there would be an NHL season, and he said yes, but with further cancellations later this week.
The next step for the players appears to be dissolving the union, which would allow for an anti-trust lawsuit to be filed against the owners. Contrary to that, the NHL is filing a lawsuit that would make the lockout legal.
So, while the chess match continues, we hockey fans are forced to sit through yet another devastating lockout. The next slate of cancellations would likely be the entire season.
