Another update on the Justin Smith injury…
The defensive tackle injured his arm in Sunday night’s 41-34 win against the Patriots in New England. He missed most of the fourth quarter, and had an MRI on Monday.
On Tuesday morning head coach Jim Harbaugh went on KNBR and revealed that Smith should be playing next Sunday night at Seattle:
Everybody affectionately refers to Justin Smith around here as ‘The Cowboy. I expect we’ll see The Cowboy. Knowing what I know of Justin Smith and the situation, I think The Cowboy will be around, saddled up … roping and riding. If it’s humanly possible, The Cowboy will be out there, roping and riding.
Knowing Smith, he will do everything that is humanely possible to suit up next week. Smith has played in 188 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak among defensive tackles.
He is officially listed as “questionable” on the 49ers’ injury report. Smith has 66 tackles and three sacks in 14 games this season.
