Report: SJSU to Hire Ron Caragher as New Head Coach

The San Jose State Spartans have named Ron Caragher as their new head coach for football, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Caragher spent the past six seasons as head coach at the University of San Diego, where he led the Toreros to a 44-22 record. He played collegiately at UCLA, and was an assistant there for nine years. Prior to coaching at San Diego, Caragher was also an assistant at Kentucky.

Caragher will replace Mike MacIntyre at San Jose State. MacIntyre led the Spartans to a 10-2 record in 2012 and helped them earn a trip to the Military Bowl later this month. He then left the team to become the head coach at  Colorado.

San Jose State is expected to make a formal announcement on Monday afternoon.
