The Santa Clara Broncos pulled out a 75-71 victory in Stockton over the Pacific Tigers on Saturday.
They were paced by Kevin Foster’s 31 points and Evan Roquemore’s 21, including his 1000th career point.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with the teams trading leads throughout. Markus Duran’s three-pointer with under a minute to play gave the Tigers a 30-27 lead at halftime.
The second half was much of the same. The Broncos trailed for the entire first 10 minutes, but hung around and made their move, taking the lead at the 10:48 mark on a free throw.
It was the Foster show in crunch time. Down three with 2:51 remaining, Foster drained two triples to turn the tides and put the Broncos up by three with 1:37 left. Samu Taku drained a three-point shot for the Tigers, but Foster responded to that with another one to give Santa Clara a 69-66 lead with under a minute to play.
With three seconds to play, Roquemore drained a couple of free throws to give him 1,000 career points, becoming the 30th Bronco to do so in school history.
Santa Clara is now 8-2 on the season, and Pacific drops to 5-5.
