The De La Salle Spartans dominated Folsom in nearly every facet of the game in the CIF Northern California Open Division in Sacramento, advancing to the state title game next Saturday.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Pepe Vitale rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns, Das Tautalatasi rushed for 94 yards and another score, and John Velasco added two rushing TDs in the fourth quarter as the Spartans racked up 392 yards.

But this one belonged the defense, which sacked record-breaking Folsom quarterback Jake Browning six times, three by 6-foot-4, 247-pound defensive end Austin Hooper. Browning had been sacked only nine times coming into the game.

Granite Bay 45, St. Ignatius 17

Granite Bay won the CIF Northern California Division final over an SI team that was feeling confident after beating powerhouse Bellarmine. Granite opened up a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

“They were a difficult team – big, strong and fast,” said SI quarterback Jack Stinn. “We just didn’t have an answer for them. We came out flat, and they took it and ran with it.”
