49ers Look To Take Down Dolphins At Home: Game Preview

Today the 8-3-1 San Francisco 49ers will host the 5-7 Miami Dolphins in a Sunday afternoon match-up.

Colin Kaepernick will get the start at quarterback yet again, and after such a mistake-plagued game against the Rams last week, many have put his job in question. Heck, most people were questioning him during his first start.

But Kaepernick has replaced Alex Smith nicely thus far. He’s got a big arm and his speed and mobility bring a different dynamic to the 49ers’ offense. Sure, Smith has the ability to make plays with his legs as well, but you just never saw him break off for big 50-yard runs, like Kaepernick did last week.

As for their defense, the 49ers will be going against a Dolphins’ offense that is led by rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill has thrown for 2,559 yards this year, to go along with seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has a completion percentage of 57.9 and he hasn’t been too bad for the Miami franchise.

Miami will also have Reggie Bush at running back, and he’s an explosive player who has scored five touchdowns this year to go along with 726 rushing yards.

I don’t see the 49ers having much trouble defending the Dolphins, as their offense is very limited and I think they will be able to rattle Tannehill enough to force him into tough passes. Tannehill won’t be ready to go against guys like Patrick Willis and Aldon Smith, and that will be the difference in the game.

The 49ers offense will definitely get it done as well. They’re playing in front of their faithful home crowd, and Kaepernick is hungrier than ever. He needs to have a redemption game to keep his job, and I believe that he will.

My prediction for this afternoon’s game is that the 49ers will take down the Dolphins 31-10, and Colin Kaepernick will have a huge game and prove his critics wrong.
