Rookies A.J. Jenkins and LaMichael James will be suiting up this afternoon against the Dolphins. This will be the first time that both of the 49ers’ top draft picks will be active in a game together. Neither has seen any playing time this year.

Jenkins, who was drafted 30th overall by the 49ers, will take the spot of Mario Manningham, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury. He will likely be fourth on the wide-receivers’ depth chart, behind Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, and Ted Ginn Jr.

James will replace Kendall Hunter on the active roster, who will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles. James was one of the top running backs in all of college football in 2011, and was selected 61st overall by the 49ers. He and Anthony Dixon will back up Frank Gore against the Dolphins today.

One notable inactive was running back Brandon Jacobs, who lashed out at the 49ers for his lack of playing time via social media. Jacobs has seen action in just two games, and has recorded seven yards on five carries.
