Several sources are reporting that RHP Brandon McCarthy has agreed  to a two-year, $15.5 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

McCarthy, who pitched for the Oakland A’s in 2011 and 2012, has a record of 17-15 with a 3.28 ERA with Oakland. Last season was his best in the majors, going 8-6 with a 3.24 ERA, which landed him a multi-year deal.

McCarthy had brain surgery in September after taking a line drive to the head, but he thankfully was ok and has been cleared to participate in baseball acitvities.

The journeyman has spent seven seasons in the major leagues after being drafted in the 17th round by the White Sox in 2002.

McCarthy’s departure means that the A’s rotation will consist of Jarrod Parker, Tommy Milone, Brett Anderson, AJ Griffin, Bartolo Colon, and Dan Straily, showing just how much depth they have at pitcher.
