Oakland Raiders’ head coach Dennis Allen’s father passed away on Monday night due to heart complications.
Grady Allen played four seasons in the NFL as a linebacker with the Atlanta Falcons from 1968-1972. He was 66 years old.
Following Sunday afternoon’s loss at home to the Browns, the Raiders announced that Allen would be leaving the team to stay with his father in the hospital. He is expected to return to the team tomorrow night and will be coaching Thursday night’s game against San Diego.
Allen’s first season as an NFL head coach has not gone as smoothly as planned. The Raiders have lost five straight games and sit at 3-9 on the year.
“The organization wishes to extend its most sincere condolences to Coach and his entire family,” the Raiders said on their Twitter account.
