For the first time in school history, the San Jose State Spartans have a ranked football team in the BCS.
The updated BCS Standings, released today, showed the Spartans as the 25th-ranked team in the nation with a 10-2 record.
This comes a day after the Spartans defeated Louisiana Tech 52-43 for their tenth win of the season.
Most of the credit has to go to head coach Mike MacIntyre, who took over the struggling program in 2010. The team has improved each season under his helm (1-12 in 2010, 5-7 in 2011, and 10-2 in 2012).
“Not many teams will win 10 football games this year,” MacIntyre said after defeating Louisiana Tech. “And if we get the 11th, there won’t be many teams with 11 wins. That puts us in a special category. We’d like to be, at the end of the day, in the top 25 if we win one more.”
