Cal Pummeled by No.11 Oregon State in Final Game

If this was the final game for Jeff Tedford as head coach of Cal, then it pretty much summed up the reason why he will be shown the door.

The Bears were absolutely annihilated by Oregon State on the road, as the Beavers routed Cal 62-14 to close out an extremely disappointing season.

Beavers’ quarterback Sean Mannion torched the Bears’ defense for 325 yards on 24/34 pass completions. Terron Ward ran for 128 yards and scored two touchdowns, including a spectacular 47-yard run in the third quarter where he seemingly ran through the entire Cal defense to add to the blowout.

For the Bears, Isi Sofele had 104 yards on 18 carries, and he ran for a touchdown in the first quarter that tied the game at 7-7 for the moment.

But Mannion really had a strong game, throwing four touchdown passes in the first half to set a school record, and the Bears found themselves down 35-7 at the half.

That would be enough to warm up the fat lady, as the Beavers poured on four more touchdowns in the second half.

The Bears finish the season at 3-9, and it would not be surprising at all if Tedford gets shown the door sometime soon. The Bears are 14-23 in their past three seasons, and although Tedford was responsible for bringing the Cal football program back into respectability, most Cal supporters would agree that it is time for a change.
