49ers Notes: Cutler Ruled Out, Harbaugh Returns to Practice, etc.

There is a lot of Niners’ news to get to as they prepare to face the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 11:

Cutler Ruled Out

The Niners will catch a break on Monday as Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler was ruled out with a concussion, as our very own Fansided network reported.

Former Raiders’ quarterback Jason Campbell will start for Chicago, with Josh McCown (another former Raider) backing him up.

Cutler suffered the concussion on Sunday night when the Bears lost to the Texans, and Campbell spelled him for the second half.

Harbaugh Back at Practice

49ers’ coach Jim Harbaugh underwent surgery to correct an irregular heartbeat yesterday, and he is back at practice today.

“No limits. Going about everything as normal,” he told Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. “Big picture? Peel back the onion and get a little introspective? No, I really haven’t. I really haven’t. Just want to do what I’m supposed to do and get back to living.”

Harbaugh has been told by doctors to cut back on caffeine.

McDonald Fined

Branch also reported that defensive tackle Ray McDonald was fined:

Defensive tackle Ray McDonald was fined $21,000 by the NFL for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Rams quarterback Sam Bradford in the third quarter of last week’s 24-24 tie against the Rams. McDonald drew a unnecessary-roughness penalty on the play.
