The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Golden State Warriors’ forward Brandon Rush will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
Rush sustained the injury on Friday night in the Warriors’ home opener when he landed awkwardly on a dunk attempt after he was shoved by Zach Randolph of the Grizzlies. He was in obvious pain and was helped off the court.
For those who haven’t seen it yet, here is the video of the injury:
Rush’s injury opens up a huge hole in the Warriors’ rotation, as he was a huge factor off the bench for much of last year, and had made some steady improvements this off-season. This means that rookies Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, and veteran Richard Jefferson should see more playing time at the small-forward position.
Rush averaged 9.8 points per game and shot 45 percent from three-point range for the Warriors last season.
