Bears Blown Out By Utah 49-27 on the Road

It was another low point in what has been a sour 2012 campaign for the Cal Bears, who fell 40-27 on the road to the Utah Utes, a team that hadn’t won a game in over a month.

Reggie Dunn ran all over the Bears’ special teams unit, setting a school record with two 100-yard kick returns. Utes’ quarterback Travis Wilson threw for 156 yards on 16/24 passing.

Zack Maynard played well for the Bears, going 20/32 for 288 yards, but did not get any help from his defense or special teams.

Cal trailed 42-6 late in the fourth quarter at one point, and all they could do was take the loss, undoubtedly their worst of the season.

They now have to win out over Washington, Oregon and Oregon State just to be bowl eligible.
