Warriors Update: Four Players Waived, Thompson Picked Up For Third Year

With the start of the NBA season less than a week away, it’s time to get caught up on some Warriors’ news.

Four Players Waived

The Warriors announced today that they have released guards Carlon Brown and Tarence Kinsey, as well as forwards Lance Goulbourne and Rick Jackson.

All of them were hopefuls to make the team out of training camp, but now will have to look for opportunities elsewhere.

The Warriors’ roster is now trimmed to 15 players.

Option Excercised for Thompson

Golden State also exercised their third-year team option on shooting guard Klay Thompson for the year 2013-2014.

This was just a formality, as it was long determined beforehand that the Warriors plan to keep Thompson as their shooting guard of the future for a long, long time.

“After huddling up with the basketball experts, ownership and (general manager) Bob (Myers), we decided to pick up the third-year option with Klay,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said with a laugh. “No, all honesty, they didn’t even come to me and ask me. They knew.”
