The stage is all set for Game 1 of the World Series tonight at AT&T Park as the Giants take on the Tigers. Weather should not be a factor for this game, as there is no rain in the forecast as of 1:30 pm.
Pitching Preview
Barry Zito gets the start for the Giants, and he is coming off an impressive victory in Game 6 of the NLCS that kept the Giants alive in the postseason. He finished the regular season 15-8 with a 4.16 ERA, his best season in Giants’ uniform.
The dominant Justin Verlander will oppose him for the Tigers. Those who followed the A’s vs. Tigers ALDS should know all about this flamethrower, as he shutout the A’s in Game 5 to help Detroit advance. All eyes will be on Verlander tonight, and it will be difficult for the Giants to produce runs if he is on his game.
