The Weekend Roundup: Giants Force Game 7, Stanford Wins Big Game, Raiders Beat Jaguars

What a weekend it was around the Bay Area, and what better way to follow it up than with a Giants’ win in Game 7 of the NLCS tomorrow night?

Down 3-2 in the best of seven, San Francisco had to win at home on Sunday to force a Game 7. And boy, did they ever come through, as Ryan Vogelsong pitched beautifully and the offense followed up with a 6-1 thrashing of the Cardinals. Game 7 is set for tomorrow evening at 5 pm.

The 115th “Big Game” was held at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, and Stanford kept the Axe with a 21-3 win over the Cal Bears. A terrific tradition between two historic schools; here’s to 115 more “Big Games”!

Now, the Raiders vs. Jaguars doesn’t exactly spark much excitement in a football fan’s mind, as both teams entered Sunday at 1-4. But the game was entertaining, as Oakland won 26-23 in overtime on a Sebastian Janikowski field goal.
