The A’s announced yesterday that RHP Jeremy Accardo has elected to become a free agent instead of accepting a minor league assignment. The reliever cleared waivers and has decided to test the market.
Accardo was signed by the A’s on August 15, and spent much of the season with the Sacramento Rivercats where he was 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA in seven games. He pitched in just one game with the A’s, allowing two runs in two innings.
The veteran reliever , who started his career with the Giants in 2005, has spent seven seasons in the big leagues with five different teams. He once notched 30 saves as the closer for the Blue Jays in 2007.
