Buster Posey Wins MLB Comeback Player of the Year Award

MLB announced earlier today that Giants’ catcher Buster Posey and Rays’ reliever Fernando Rodney are the recipients of the Comeback Player of the Year Award for the 2012 season.

After having his 2011 season cut short due to a horrific ankle injury on a collision at the plate, Posey has come back as strong as ever in 2012. He finished the regular season batting .336 with 24 home runs and 103 RBI, winning the batting title and became the first Giant to reach 100 RBI since Barry Bonds in 2004.

Posey is the odds-on favorite to win the NL MVP Award as well, which is amazing considering that 2012 was his first full season in the major leagues.
