It’s a weekend that most Bay Area sports fans would like to forget, as the only victory that we covered on Golden Gate Sports was Cal’s thrashing of Washington State on the road.
Aside from that, it was a weekend that likely had you pulling your hair out.
- Stanford lost in overtime to the Fighting Irish after the officials blew the call on Stepfan Taylor’s touchdown, ruling him down before he crossed the goal line.
- Oakland Raiders Lose Heartbreaker to Atlanta Falcons 23-20″ href=”http://goldengatesports.com/2012/10/14/oakland-raiders-lose-heartbreaker-to-atlanta-falcons-23-20/” target=”_blank”>The Raiders nearly pulled off the upset of the undefeated Falcons in Atlanta, but were derailed due to a late interception of Carson Palmer, and a game winning 55-yard field goal by Matt Bryant.
Then comes the San Francisco double-dip, made worse by the play-by-play of Joe Buck for both games on Sunday.
- In a much anticipated re-match of the NFC Championship game, the 49ers fell flat as Alex Smith threw three interceptions against the New York Giants, leading to a 26-3 debacle.
- And the even more anticipated NLCS was a real bummer for the San Francisco Giants, as Madison Bumgarner (no pun intended) allowed six runs in just 3.2 innings. They battled back, but fell short by the score of 6-4.
