Bears Upset UCLA 43-17 at Memorial Stadium

Coming off the heals of a horrid 1-4 start, the Cal Bears notched a huge win tonight with an upset over 25th-ranked UCLA.

After UCLA went up 7-0 in the first quarter, the Zack Maynard and the Bears essentially took over the game from there. From ESPN:

The Bears then scored 23 straight on three Maynard touchdowns — a 5-yarder to C.J. Anderson, an 8-yarder to Keenan Allen and a 32-yarder to Brendan Bigelow. He was a very crisp 25 of 30 for 295 yards.

It was a nice turnaround for the Maynard, who really struggled last week against USC. He put the icing on the cake in the fourth quarter, leading his team to the one-yard line of UCLA then pounding it in himself to give Cal a 36-17 lead.

Anderson finished things off with a 68-yard touchdown run with 1:32 left in the game.

Next week, the Bears will travel up to Washington State to play the Cougars.
