The 49ers were coming off a stunning loss heading into New York. They were seeking a solid bounce back win.  They got it, a perfect 34-0 rout against Rex Ryan and the Jets to improve 3-1.  With a solid defense and San Francisco’s offense rushing for 245 yards and passing for 134 yards the 49ers picked the Jets defense apart, yes this the same Jets defense that is supposed to be a top 5 defense.

This Jets team is the same team that has lost the best shutdown corner in the league, has a struggling Mark Sanchez leading their offense, and to make matters worse they lost Pro Bowl receiver Santonio Holmes.  However, these injuries for the Jets will not take away how great the Niners performed, with an electrifying offense and a discipline defense, the 49ers are still my favorite for the NFC.  They were able to control the clock with a solid run game, a smothering defense, and even taught the Jets how to run a proper wildcat offense.  The defense was giving the Jets such a hard time in the second half, the Jet fans were booing and you could even hear chants of “Tebow! Tebow!” fill the stadium.

The fans of San Francisco should enjoy their hometown team dominating a loud mouth Jets team.  Why shouldn’t they, the fans have been dedicated fans and have been waiting a long time to see there team look this great since the Steve Young era.  They may have finally found their new franchise quarterback in Alex Smith who was very efficient, going 12 of 21 for 143 yards and no touchdowns, but more importantly, no interceptions. It was a big win Sunday, and now they will come home for a somewhat tough but winnable 3 game stretch where they will take on the Bills, Giants, and Seahawks.

The season has just gotten more interesting with the fact that Harbaugh has found new weapons for his offense, including using Quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the wildcat formation who rushed for 50 yards.  Let’s not forget to give some credit to San Fran’s special teams on both sides, for blocking a punt and punter, Andy Lee who continues to be one of the best in the league, pinning the Jets inside the 20 two times.  Fans are so caught up with this passing era we are in, they forget how important special teams is.  So if we have learned anything in these past few weeks, its that Alex Smith is the real deal, and Jim Harbaugh could not have come up to the NFL at a perfect time for our fans in the Bay.  All in all, the San Francisco 49ers are 3-1 and playing great football, the old Niners way.
